Itinerary

11:00 am Arrival in Dubrovnik

In front of the main entrance into the old town we meet our local guide who knows each corner of this gorgeous Mediterranean town. You will proceed with a walk along the famous Stradun street, pass by famous Onofrio fountain, Orlando’s column.

Visit: Placa or Stradun street - Bridge between Roman and Greek settlements

Take a walk down Placa Street, on this Excursion to Dubrovnik, an old gathering street and today an important business part of the city, which separates Dubrovnik into northern and southern halves. In the 12th century this street served as a trading point between Roman-Greek settlement on the islet Lave and the Croatian-Slav settlement on the mainland. However as the Croatians populated the city in the 14th century this canal was filled with earth in order to join the two populations. Today is paved with stone blocks, which are polished to shine a wooden floor, so it is called street-salon.

Visit: The Old Town

Leaving Pille square on foot, our friendly excursion local guide will lead you through the very old town and discover you old legends and stories about the most attractive and most interesting sightseeings in the town – gorgeous Minceta Fortress, St. John’s Fortress, Maritime museum, Franciscan friary, a 14th century pharmacy, the Dubrovnik Cathedral’s treasury. In these 90 minutes the guide will present you history as well as nowadays life of this prosperous city. During our tour you will understand the „big picture“ of how history interlinks with present in cultural, economic and religious aspect but most of all, you have a wonderful experience on this excursion.

Visit: Pile Gate

Pile Gate is the grand entrance into the secluded and well protected Dubrovnik’s Old Town, on its western wall. This well preserved gate was built to protect the city in 1537 from invaders that wanted their hands on the riches of this city. The gate at that time was locked every evening. Beside the history this location will charm you with a view of the beauties of the Old city.

Departure

After the sightseeing, there is plenty of free time to walk the numerous streets and squares of the Old Town of Dubrovnik, while having coffee in the town’s Main Square outside the Church of St Blasius is a special experience. At 16h we meet each other on the same place where we started our exploration of Dubrovnik and go back to your hotel where we should arrive by dinner time.
